Blitzkrieg of Delhi

Chennai: Chennai team faced wrath of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir during the match held yesterday. The blitzkrieg launched by the Deadly combination of Sehwag and Gambhir completely blew off the Chennai team! The opening pair settled all the old scores at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

Delhi team chasing 170 gained an easy victory over the home team. Delhi won the match by eight wickets and an over to spare. Thus Delhi clinched a crucial match that too in a fabulous way! The big name of Chennai team Matthew Hayden was missing and Dhoni must have missed him more than anyone else! The Chennai team also came without Jacob Oram. It was Chennai’s first defeat of the competition.

So now the top teams of T20 are Chennai, Delhi and Rajasthan with four wins and eight points from five games. Sehwag emerged as Man of the Match with his 71 runs in 41balls. It included seven powerful boundaries and four blazing sixes! So the Delhi Lion was on a prowl in his hunting ground.

Sehwag and Gambhir were a dangerous right-left combination for the rivals. The Chennai bowlers struggled a lot to adjust their line to the two batsmen. This right-left combination did not leave any scoring opportunity!

Sehwag was severe to Gony and Ntini. Even Joginder Sharma was not spared! The opening pair had put on 115 in only 11.2 overs. The damage had already been done. Gambhir was out at 50 by Gony. Sehwag’s wicket was taken by Joginder Sharma. AB de Villiers and Shikhar Dhawan came after the duo to complete the remaining task! They just needed to put in 26 by Villiers and 19 by Dhawan to win the match.

Earlier Chennai made 169 for six which proved an easy target for the Delhi team. S. Vidyut’s 37-ball 54 was a commendable effort. Vidyut came in at No. 3 and made major contribution to the score board of his team. But soon McGrath took his wicket and eliminated the dangerous player from the pitch.

Dhoni scored 32 but before he could do something more he was out on Asif’s ball. Morkel put in 28 runs before his wicket was taken by young Bhatia. Over all the Delhi team’s fielding was outstanding.
Dhoni’s decision to bat first did not prove right rather Chennai team should have chased to escape from the Blitzkrieg of Delhi!
