As the League is moving ahead towards the semi finals the battle is turning tougher for the teams. All the teams are battling now to secure a berth in the semi- finals. Competition is really turning hot now.
Today the clash between Chennai and Kolkata is going to be a thriller for the players and the viewers as well. Both the teams will try to outsmart each other in this key match at the Eden Gardens. The match is more crucial for the Ganguly’s team who lost the last match miserably to Mumbai!
Ganguly will need to come up with a better game plan this time. He will need to use all the available resources to get the better of Chennai. Kolkata needs to win this match to stay in the competition.
Kolkata has so far lost five matches out of ten. Kolkata cannot afford to lose any more! The important point is that Kolkata’s four wins have come against the two bottom-placed sides — Bangalore and Hyderabad. So the record of Kolkata is not good against better-placed teams!
On the other hand Chennai has won six out of its 10 matches and needs to win at least two of the remaining matches to ensure a semifinal berth.
Kolkata is also weaker in the batting order. Apart from skipper Sourav Ganguly, David Hussey and Shukla there are no other players from whom a good batting spell can be expected. Much will be expected from Akhtar in this match as well.
On the bowling side of Chennai there are Muttiah Muralitharan, Albie Morkel, L. Balaji, Makhaya Ntini and Joginder Sharma. These all bowlers are surely going to deliver. So it will be interesting to see to whose side the game goes today!
