Delhi beats Mumbai!

NEW DELHI: Delhi met Mumbai last evening. After this match Delhi has 15 points and Mumbai is having 12 points in the inaugural League. Dinesh Karthik proved the match winner. Delhi won the match by 3 runs.

Gambhir made 19 runs before he was out off Nel. Much was expected from Sehwag but he made 18 and was out off Nehra. Dhawan made 27 before he was caught by Chitins off Smith. Tiwari was run out at 36. Dilshan was out at duck off Smith. Karthik made 56 which included good shots. Maharoof was not out at 20 thus came the score of 179 and Delhi won the match.

Set a target of 177, Delhi’s chances revolved around Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir but the in-form openers departed with just 50 runs. Delhi won the match thanks to a sensible innings from Karthik.

S. Jayasuriya batted so well with his 66 before he was out at ball of Mishra. S. Tendulkar again to perform as he was out at 18. D. Smith’s catch was taken by Geeves off Yomahesh at 17. R. Uthappa performed well and was not out 46.

A. Nayar’s catch was taken by Dilshan off Geeves at 1. S. Pollock was out off Maharoof at 16. S. Chitnis failed again to perform as he was out off Yomahesh at 3. P. Shah was out at duck. A. Nel followed him as he was also run out at 0.

Put in to bat, Mumbai lost little time in getting down to business. The pitch invited the batsmen to take a positive course and Jayasuriya made the best out of this opportunity. His batting was complete entertainment for all but it failed to save his team from defeat.
