Bangalore takes the tally to 8!

HYDERABAD: When the two beleaguered sides met here last evening much was not expected from this match. But Bangalore proved itself better and won the match by defeating Hyderabad by 6 runs. It was a 5 wickets victory.

B. Akhil’s three big sixes in the 19th over off Chamara Silva was just the icing on the cake for Bangalore. Hyderabad has so far lost all the matches at home. Their dubious record of not winning any game at home continued this time as well. It suffered its sixth straight defeat and remains at the bottom of the table with just four points from two wins in 13 matches.

This was the fourth win for Bangalore which took its tally to eight points. Bangalore has still one remaining match against Mumbai. Jacques Kallis made fast 31 runs with the help of 6 boundaries. Misbah-ul-Haq also made good 34 runs in 28 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six. Soon, Dravid made 31 in 21 balls with the help of 3 boundaries and one six.

Then, Cameron White made 31 not out in 23 balls. He struck one four and two sixes. But, more important was the spell by Akhil who was 27 not out off just 7 balls. He hit two boundaries and three sixes.

On Hyderabad’s side a 101-run opening stand in 12.2 overs between Adam Gilchrist and Gibbs gave Hyderabad a perfect start. Gilly made 46 off 37 balls with help of four boundaries and 2 sixes. Gibbs also made 47 off 34 balls with six boundaries and two sixes.

But rest of the batsmen failed to play well. Gilchrist was out off Vinay Kumar. Gibbs was out at ball by Kumble. This spell of quick dismissals shifted the momentum to the Bangalore camp.

After this all the remaining players went back in succession. Sharma made 17, silva 0, Rao 26, Teja 7 and Bangar made 0. Vaas was run out at duck followed by R.P.Singh who made 1 and Vijay kumar made 0.

So the total was 165 which was easily achieved by Bangalore. Kumble took one wicket. Steyn got 2 wickets, Kohli also got 2 wickets. Vinay succeeded in getting 3 crucial wickets. This way Bangalore got a victory to improve its points but this victory will not help the team much, as it is already out of the tournament.
